Solomon, M.D., F.A.C.S., offers the specialized revision expertise that few surgeons in the world can match. Serving patients from across the United States and internationally at his Beverly Hills practice.
Dr. Solomon is an exceptional surgeon and a true professional. From the initial consultation through surgery and post-op follow-ups, he was clear, thoughtful, and incredibly attentive. He took the time to walk me through every detail of the procedure and made sure I felt fully comfortable going into surgery.
What Is Penile Revision Surgery?
If you’re dealing with complications or results you’re unhappy with after a prior procedure, penile revision surgery may offer a path forward. These complex cases require specialized skill to safely restore form, function, and confidence.
Procedure Overview
Penile revision surgery is a specialized field of reconstructive plastic surgery focused on correcting complications, unsatisfactory outcomes, or damage resulting from prior penile enhancement procedures performed by other surgeons. These cases are among the most complex in male aesthetic surgery, requiring an advanced understanding of penile anatomy, reconstructive technique, and the specific challenges created by different materials and methods.
Dr. Mark P. Solomon, M.D., F.A.C.S., is one of the most experienced penile revision surgeons in the world. Over more than three decades, he has treated men dealing with complications from virtually every type of prior procedure, including penile implants, injectable fillers, fat grafts, allografts, and failed lengthening or girth procedures. Many of his revision patients have been told by other surgeons that nothing can be done. In many cases, that is simply not true.
Double board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Over 35 years of specialized experience in male enhancement surgery.
Implant Complication Correction
Penile implant devices, including Penuma®, Himplant®, and Elist® implants, can result in serious complications including device exposure, infection, chronic pain, asymmetry, and loss of penile length or sensation. Revision surgery may involve removal of the implant, management of scar tissue and capsular contracture, and reconstructive procedures to restore natural anatomy, contour, and function. Dr. Solomon has extensive experience managing the full spectrum of implant-related complications.
Dr. Solomon Is a Leader in Revision Procedures: Fortunately, you don’t have to endure poor outcomes for the rest of your life. With Dr. Solomon’s help, you can begin to look and feel great again. As a pioneering specialist in male enhancement procedures, he has experience fixing various problems due to failed surgical and nonsurgical penile enlargement operations.
Individual results vary based on anatomy and health factors.
Filler & Injection Complication Correction
Injections of hyaluronic acid, PMMA, silicone, Sculptra, and other fillers can cause nodularity, asymmetry, chronic inflammation, granulomas, migration of material into surrounding tissue, and disfigurement. Many of these materials, particularly silicone and PMMA, are permanent and cannot be dissolved non-surgically. Dr. Solomon performs surgical removal of filler material and scar tissue, followed by tissue reconstruction to restore a natural appearance and feel.
Depending on the filler type and extent of the damage, more than one procedure may be required.
Fat Graft & Allograft Revision
Fat grafting and allograft procedures (using materials such as Alloderm® and Belladerm®) can result in irregular contour, nodularity, graft failure, reabsorption, or distortion of the penile shaft. Dr. Solomon’s revision approach involves removal or repair of the original graft material, correction of scar tissue, and, when appropriate, replacement with a more reliable graft technique to achieve a natural result.
Extensive experience in phalloplasty involving allografts, such as Alloderm and Belladerm
Additional Revision Procedures
Depending on the nature and extent of prior complications, penile revision surgery may also address:
Scar Tissue Removal
Internal and external scarring from prior procedures that restricts length, causes curvature, or affects function
Curvature Correction
Penile curvature resulting from asymmetric scar formation or graft distortion following a prior procedure
Length Restoration
Revision of abdominal wall attachments or scar release to recover length lost after a previous surgery
Circumcision Revision
Correction of poor cosmetic or functional outcomes from a prior circumcision
Scrotal & Pubic Revision
Correction of scrotal webbing, pubic scarring, or contour irregularities resulting from a previous procedure
A personal consultation with Dr. Solomon is required to determine which procedures are appropriate for your individual needs and goals.
Benefits & Risks of Penile Revision Surgery
Revision surgery addresses real complications, but it is still surgery with its own set of benefits and risks. Dr. Solomon believes that fully informed patients make the best decisions. Below is an honest overview of what revision surgery can offer and what you should consider.
Benefits
- Correction of complications: Revision surgery can address nodularity, asymmetry, chronic pain, device exposure, contour irregularities, and loss of function caused by prior procedures
- Restored appearance: Reconstruction techniques are designed to restore a more natural penile contour, proportion, and feel
- Improved function: Many patients experience improvement in comfort, sensation, and sexual function following successful revision
- Relief from chronic symptoms: For patients dealing with ongoing pain, inflammation, or discomfort from retained filler material, scar tissue, or failed implants, revision surgery can provide meaningful relief
- Specialized expertise: Dr. Solomon's dual command of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery makes him uniquely qualified to plan and execute complex revision cases that other surgeons may decline
- Renewed confidence: For many men, revision surgery represents the chance to move forward after a difficult and often isolating experience
Risks & Considerations
- Surgical risks: As with any surgery, there is a risk of infection, bleeding, adverse reaction to anesthesia, and delayed wound healing
- Scarring: Revision surgery involves operating on tissue that has already been surgically altered; scar formation is expected and managed through post-operative protocols
- Tissue limitations: Prior procedures may have compromised the quality, elasticity, or blood supply of penile tissue, which can affect what revision surgery can achieve
- Multiple procedures may be required: Depending on the complexity of the original complication, more than one surgical session may be needed to achieve the desired outcome
- Temporary numbness or sensitivity changes: Changes in sensation may occur following revision surgery; this typically improves over weeks to months
- Swelling and bruising: Post-operative swelling is expected and may take several months to fully resolve; final results are not immediately visible
- Results depend on the starting point: Outcomes in revision cases are influenced by the type and extent of the original procedure, the materials used, and the condition of surrounding tissue; no specific result can be guaranteed
Individual results vary. All surgical procedures carry inherent risks. A personal consultation with Dr. Solomon is required to determine whether revision surgery is appropriate for your situation and to discuss your specific risk profile.
A special thanks to Dr. Solomon and his staff for putting up with my endless questions both before and after surgery. I just had my post op photos taken and am even more pleased than I thought when comparing with my before photos. I recommend Dr. Solomon to anyone looking for a talented surgeon who will be completely honest with you and that is there for you every step of the way!! Thank you, Dr. Solomon!!
Am I a Candidate for Penile Revision Surgery?
Candidacy for penile revision surgery is determined during a private consultation with Dr. Solomon. In general, good candidates include men who:
- Are experiencing complications from a prior penile enhancement procedure, including implants, fillers, fat grafts, allografts, or surgical lengthening or girth procedures
- Have chronic pain, discomfort, or loss of sensation related to a prior procedure
- Are dealing with visible deformity, asymmetry, nodularity, or unnatural contour from a previous treatment
- Have experienced implant-related complications such as device exposure, migration, infection, or capsular contracture
- Have been told by other surgeons that their situation cannot be corrected
- Are in good overall health and are medically cleared for surgery
- Have realistic expectations about what revision surgery can achieve, given the condition of their existing tissue
Men dealing with complications from injectable fillers, including hyaluronic acid, PMMA, silicone, and Sculptra, may also be candidates, even if non-surgical dissolution attempts have been unsuccessful.
During your consultation, Dr. Solomon will perform a thorough evaluation of your anatomy and the specific complications you are experiencing. He will explain honestly what revision surgery can and cannot achieve for your individual case and recommend the approach most likely to produce the best possible outcome. Not every case is the same, and Dr. Solomon will give you a straightforward assessment.
Recovery & What to Expect
Recovery from penile revision surgery varies depending on the complexity of the case, the type of prior procedure being corrected, and the specific revision techniques performed.
Recovery Starts with Rest
Plan to rest for the majority of the first week following surgery. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are normal and expected, often more pronounced than in primary procedures due to the presence of scar tissue from prior surgery. Dr. Solomon provides detailed post-operative instructions and his team is available to address concerns throughout this period. Out-of-town patients receive daily check-ins.
Light Activity & Early Healing Phase
Most men are able to return to desk work and light daily activities within two weeks. Swelling continues to improve gradually. Drain management, if applicable, will be guided by Dr. Solomon's team with clear instructions.
Returning to Exercise and Intimacy
Strenuous activities, including exercise and sexual activity, are typically restricted for at least four to six weeks following revision surgery. Dr. Solomon will clear you for full activity based on your individual healing progress.
Settling Into Your New Normal
Final results become apparent as swelling fully resolves and scar tissue matures, which may take several months. In complex cases involving significant tissue reconstruction, the healing timeline may be longer. Dr. Solomon schedules regular follow-up appointments, both in-person and virtually, to monitor your progress and adjust your care plan as needed.
Recovery timelines are general guidelines. Individual healing varies based on the complexity of the revision, overall health, and adherence to post-operative instructions.
Real Results. Real Patients
Because revision cases begin from a more complex starting point, results demonstrate the correction of specific complications rather than enhancement from a normal baseline. We are proud to share these images with the permission of the patients themselves, who hope their experience will give others the courage to seek the care they deserve.

Why Choose Dr. Solomon for Penile Revision Surgery
Unmatched Revision Experience

Patients travel from across the country and internationally specifically for this expertise, which is exceptionally difficult to find.

Certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Revision surgery requires the highest level of reconstructive training, with credentials that go well beyond what most enhancement-only providers hold.
Cosmetic & Reconstructive Expertise
Unlike surgeons who focus exclusively on enhancement or exclusively on reconstruction, Dr. Solomon operates at the intersection of both disciplines. This dual capability is essential for revision cases, where correcting structural complications and restoring natural aesthetics must happen in the same surgical plan.
Individualized Approach
Revision cases are inherently complex, and not every case can achieve the same outcome. Dr. Solomon takes the time to evaluate your specific situation thoroughly and will tell you the truth about what is realistic. He recommends only what he genuinely believes can improve your situation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Penile revision surgery is a specialized area of reconstructive plastic surgery that corrects complications, damage, or unsatisfactory outcomes from prior penile enhancement procedures. This includes revision of penile implants, removal of injectable fillers, correction of fat graft or allograft complications, scar tissue management, curvature correction, and restoration of penile length, contour, and function. These are among the most complex cases in male aesthetic surgery and require a surgeon with advanced reconstructive experience.
Dr. Solomon treats a wide range of complications from prior procedures, including implant exposure, infection, or device failure; nodularity, lumps, or granulomas from injectable fillers such as hyaluronic acid, PMMA, silicone, or Sculptra; irregular contour or graft failure from fat grafts or allografts; scarring that restricts length or causes curvature; chronic pain or loss of sensation; and visible deformity or asymmetry. Each case is evaluated individually to determine the most appropriate surgical plan.
In many cases, no. Dr. Solomon frequently sees patients who have been told by other surgeons that their complications are untreatable. With the right combination of reconstructive techniques and an individualized surgical plan, meaningful improvement is often possible, even in cases that appear highly complex. The only way to know what is achievable for your specific situation is a thorough consultation.
It depends on the complexity of the case. Some revision cases can be addressed in a single procedure, while others, particularly those involving extensive scar tissue, multiple prior surgeries, or deeply embedded filler material, may require a staged approach with two or more surgical sessions. Dr. Solomon will discuss the expected treatment plan during your consultation.
Recovery varies based on the complexity of the revision. Most patients should plan to rest for the first week, with a return to light activities within two weeks. Strenuous activities and sexual activity are typically restricted for four to six weeks. Swelling may take several months to fully resolve, and final results develop gradually as tissue heals and matures. Dr. Solomon provides detailed post-operative guidance and monitors your recovery closely.
The cost of revision surgery varies significantly based on the type and extent of complications, the techniques required, and whether multiple procedures are needed. Because no two revision cases are the same, pricing is discussed during your consultation after Dr. Solomon evaluates your individual situation. The practice offers financing through CareCredit, accepts major credit cards, and can arrange customized payment plans.
