- WHAT IS COSMETIC SURGERY?
There are many reasons why women and men choose cosmetic surgery in Philadelphia. It can be a defining moment in your life – a time to recast your appearance. Cosmetic surgery can help you realize your personal goals as well.
Our aim is to help you achieve those goals. We offer you all the advice you need to be well-informed and decide if cosmetic surgery is for you.
Dr. Mark Solomon will talk to you about your aesthetic goals: what you would like to change, how you wish to improve the way you look. He will then perform a thorough examination and discuss various ways of balancing the goals you seek with the features you now possess.
Reshaping the human form requires extensive medical understanding of your body. Any new feature must appear to be a natural enhancement of your existing form. By using photographs and other illustrations, Dr. Solomon will show you what is medically feasible. He will discuss the results you can expect, as well as the alternatives available. But you will make the final choice about what is right for you – knowing that Dr. Solomon has the skill and experience to help you obtain the best possible results from your Philadelphia plastic surgery.
- WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?
Cosmetic surgery isn’t your only option. Our practice has, for years, offered medically supervised skin rejuvenation such chemical peels, laser treatments and skin care products. Prescribed by Dr. Solomon and performed by a specially-trained staff including an aesthetician and a registered nurse, you can truly have a fitness trainer for your skin. Our at-home skin care products are “prescription strength,” and reflect the most advanced ideas in skin care. Dr. Solomon offers DermaPeel microdermabrasion, a non-surgical technique that helps reduce fine lines, acne scars and wrinkles.
Laser skin resurfacing may be the best solution when fine lines and wrinkles – or even discoloration or scarring – are resistant to the use of topical treatments. As one of the first plastic surgeons to work with laser skin resurfacing, Dr. Solomon has gained an extensive amount of experience with both the Carbon Dioxide and Erbium Lasers. He has taught laser resurfacing courses to many physicians through seminars and other continuing education opportunities throughout the country. At his practice, Dr. Solomon currently offers fractional carbon dioxide resurfacing, and he can provide regular carbon dioxide resurfacing for patients who would benefit from this type of treatment.
Laser hair removal may be an option for patients wanting to rid themselves of hair, for both men and women – on the face and body. Dr. Solomon was one of the first in the country to introduce this technique and since its inception into his practice, he has helped hundreds of his patients accomplish just that. These procedures can be performed in our office laser salon, using local anesthesia if necessary.
Facial surgery has also benefited from advances in medical technology: an endoscope will be used, if medically appropriate, to minimize invasiveness, reduce scarring, and speed recovery. He was the first plastic surgeon in Philadelphia and to perform endoscopic brow lift (to erase forehead lines and lift heavy eyelids) and face lift (to tighten and eliminate “sagging”). Eyelid surgery is offered – with a laser, if appropriate, or with other techniques – to remove excess skin and puffiness. Nasal surgery is another option for reshaping and reducing the size of the nose.
Body contouring procedures are offered for nearly every area. In Philadelphia, liposuction, including ultrasonic techniques and liposculpture can thin places untouched by the diet and exercise, for both women and men – in the neck, hips, abdomen and legs. Abdominal contouring can be performed using a variety of techniques including both the traditional and the latest endoscopic methods.
Breast enhancement techniques including breast enlargement, lifting and reduction are available for women, as is breast reduction for men. To minimize scarring whenever possible, liposuction techniques are used for breast reduction surgery and endoscopic techniques are used for breast augmentation. Also, for men, penile enhancement can add length, width, or both.
