The most common reason I’m asked to operate on the scrotum is for a web between the penis and the scrotum, often called a turkey neck. This is an excess of skin from the scrotum that extends along the shaft of the penis, sometimes all the way up to the head of the penis.
Treatment requires surgery to remove the excess skin and provide a clean angle between the penis and the scrotum. Scrotal surgery of this type can be combined with other penis surgery procedures if desired.
Another reason men seek scrotal surgery is because they suffer with a hyperactive scrotum that feels tight. One way to determine if you’re a candidate for this surgery, is to inject a neurotoxin like Botox into the scrotum. This drug will relax the scrotal muscle. This is only a temporary fix, but if it works, you may want to consider surgery that removes the muscle layer and replaces it with a tissue graft to relax the scrotum permanently.
If you have more questions about scrotal surgery, please call my office. I look forward to hearing from you.
